Did you try to scroll up the options list?
Can you tell me if this issue happens only after resume from suspend or also when SpeedFan has been just started?
Thank you.

Hello, I'm using SpeedFan now only to show temp/speeds with WebTemp, whole fan-adjustment is atm done by AsusSuite
This way it does not crash Windows at shutdown (which destroys sometimes bootsector...)

My best guess is that you used some other tool while using SpeedFan and that other tool aggressively reset a register inside the NCT6791D that, once changed, didn't allow SpeedFan to read/write some other registers. I am rather sure that if you run SpeedFan alone you will be able to set PWM MODE to MANUAL and change fan speeds. This is what happens according to other users' reports.
I have a private beta the I can confirm to be fully compatible and working with the NCT6791D. Drop me an email if you would like to use it.

I first wanted to use SpeedFan+WebTemp like I did on my old mainboard.
But as it did not work and the fans spinning to fast/loud I tried the Asus software

I fully understand. I think this issue can be closed because I think it was caused by running another Asus tool that, while SpeedFan was running, changed some registers that altered SpeedFan's ability to access H/M data.
Feel free to reopen it in case you experience something different.
