Summary0002657: CPU Fan Speed is low - be quiet! BK009 Pure Rock
DescriptionMy Motherboard Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P was running fine with an Artic freezer 13.
After changing CPU (FX 6300 to FX 8300) i had to upgrade the CPU Fan.

I took a "be quiet! BK009 Pure Rock" and didn`t change the setting of SpeedFan.

The fan has about 1500 RPM. My minimal setting is 40%, max is 100%. Desired Temperature is 35°C. SpeedFan runs with autostart.

After starting Speedfan shows 40% and 30° C - the Fan runs with about 250 RPM.
Rising over 35°C the Fanspeed climbs up to 100% (40° C) an the Fan runs with 700 RPM.

Funny things happen.

BIOS:CPU Fan Speed Control: Normal (default)
(Normal, Silent, Manuel, Disabled)

Starting Windows

I started CPUID HWMonitor

CPU Fan Value 640 RPM - Min 623 RPM - Max 789 RPM
(where do this values come from? From Bios?)

Starting SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 251 RPM - Min 0 RPM - Max 635 RPM

Exit SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 1530 RPM - Min 0 RPM - Max 1530 RPM
(This comes from Speedfan - Options: Set fan to 100% on exit)

Restarting SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 745 RPM (40% Min.) - Min 0 RPM - Max 1530 RPM
(Everything works fine)

BIOS:CPU Fan Speed Control: Disabled (Fan should run on full speed)
(Normal, Silent, Manuel, Disabled)

Starting Windows

I started CPUID HWMonitor

CPU Fan Value 1534 RPM - Min 1527 RPM - Max 1541 RPM

Starting SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 228 RPM - Min 119 RPM - Max 1548 RPM

Exit SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 1523 RPM - Min 119 RPM - Max 1537 RPM

Restarting SpeedFan
CPU Fan Value 736 RPM (40% Min.) - Min 119 RPM - Max 1537 RPM
(again everything works fine)

Resolved: Gigabyte comes with EasyTune.

Disable FanControl is not Disable FanControl,
it is 20° Min RPM - 30° Max RPM
(Don't know where this values are stored to remove them, uninstalling Easytune want change that)

Changed the RPM with "Advanced" to 10° Min RPM - 20° max RPM

Now Speedfan starts with

CPU Fan Value 640 RPM - Min 623 RPM - Max 689 RPM
but when the CPU Temperature rises, Max RPM rises slowly to 1546

Thanks a lot for this tool. I installed it on all of my Computers the last 15 years - an after understanding how to configure, it always runs fine.
