Summary0001664: SpeedFan locks up computer with new AHCI driver
DescriptionI recently updated the AHCI drivers on two system which both have a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H Motherboard. Both machines run Windows 7 x64 (one with Home Premium and one with Professional).

On both machines, I can no longer use SpeedFan after the driver update. When SpeedFan launches it locks the computer and never ceases to do so. The HDD LED is constantly lit up, the mouse is still moving however, I am not able to interact with anything and I am also unable to start the Task Manager for example.

I tried completely uninstalling SpeedFan and reinstalling it with no success.

(I chose other for the Category, since I didn't exactly know where to put it, maybe it's a SMART issue?)
Steps To Reproduce• use a GA-MA785GMT-UD2H Motherboard or possibly any Motherboard with a SB710 Southbridge
• use Windows 7 x64
• use a (system) hard disk with AHCI enabled
• install the latest AHCI drivers (Catalyst 10.9 in this case)
• reboot and start SpeedFan

Running SpeedFan with /NOSMARTSCAN command line argument works!

There are two other command line parameters that I would like you to try:

/NOSUMMARYLOGSCAN
/NOADVSMARTSCAN

If they work, you might still be able to read SMART information.

I think that 4.43 beta fixed this issue, according to other similar threads.
