I am running an NVIDIA Venus motherboard (a special edition of the NF4 SLI DR expert), 2 gig ram, opteron 170 @ 2.76 ghz. The machine is stable to 2 instances of prime95 and runs games well.

well, i ran the smbdebug switch and attached the output. it seems It is failing when I do the scan for $2E. THIS is the same issue as reported here:
http://www.bugtrack.almico.com/view.php?id=615&nbn=2#bugnotes [^]

Interestingly we have very similar motherboards. Unfortunately the latest beta does not fix the problem.

Please, run SpeedFan with the /NOSMBSCAN command line switch, then use the SEND REPORT button to generate a report. Remove your email address from it, copy and paste it to a plain .txt file and then use the UPLOAD button on this page.

Ops! There is no need for the SEND REPORT. I didn't see your previous uploads. Sorry.
Please, send me an email and I will send you back a beta that should fix your issue.
