Summary0000304: No temperature readings with 6600GT
DescriptionJust recently picked up a 6600GT, and Speedfan is not reporting the temp. It looks like Speedfan is detecting the sensor,

but not reporting anything. Even going to the Advanced tab in configuration, and it is not showing. I have tried uninstalling (including manual cleaning the registry of all references to Speedfan) and reinstalling a few times, but still not luck.

Is this a bug in Speedfan, or am I missing a configuration step somewhere along the way?

'Found nVidia GeForce 6600 GT' just means that SF has found the card on the system bus, not that is has found a sensor to talk to. The sensor is scanned for at 'Scanning I2CNVidia SMBus at $3D405051...', after which you see no result (rather you see a message regarding SMART). So it looks like the sensor is not detected, which *may* mean that it's not suppored.

What version or build of SpeedFan are you using?
Please indicate directly whether your card is AGP (which it looks like, since the chipset seems to be nForce2) or PCIe.
Use Info tab -> Send Report to send almico a detailed scan of your buses.

Alfredo, see here for a large thread with some info on nVidia video card support, especially an issue regarding sensor detection. In there you will find SMBus dumps for this card:

Report sent.

edit: Just an update, tried the WinFox that you mentioned in another thread. Surprisingly, it worked and even detected my Gigabyte card as a Leadtek model. Anyhow, I couldn't see anywhere where it tells you which sensor chip is on the card, if you can point me in the right direction, I'll see if I can find it. One strange thing though, WinFox reported the core temp 10

That's interesting to know, thanks for telling us.

See this issue for navigating WinFox:

Found this little tidbit today on the Nvidia forums regarding 6600GT's and temp sensors,

Just an update on this. Now using 4.26, and still no video card reading. Came across this today.

http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14762

which works fine with displaying the temperature of the card. The author has provided two links, one for the program itself (a bit rudimentary, but functional), and the source code (I'm not a coder, so it means nothing to me).
